American Modelica Conference 2018 Call for Papers

See the following link: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/american … vanfretti/

Dear colleague,

it is a pleasure for me to invite you to submit a paper and participate to the forthcoming American Modelica Conference 2018 , which will be held in Cambridge, near Boston on 9-10 October 2018. The deadline for the submission of papers is May 1st, 2018, and the deadline for the submission of extended abstract for a presentation-only track is June 1st, 2018. For more details, please check the online  Call for papers.

The deadline for submission of full papers is on May 1st now only 6 weeks away, so please start your efforts for a paper now!

The North American Modelica Users' Group, NAMUG, with generous support from MERL (Mitsubishi Electric Research Lab) will organize two free Modelica workshops, Monday, October 8th before the conference at the offices of MERL in Cambridge. If you are interested in attending one of these workshops, please select "Workshop Ticket" on the Eventbrite site of the conference. There will be a beginner’s workshop in the morning, and an advanced workshop with an introduction into modeling of thermo-fluid systems using applications from the Buildings Library in the afternoon. To aid in planning, please register soon for these workshops

Scope of the Conference

Modelica is a freely available, equation-based, object-oriented language for convenient and efficient modeling of complex, multi-domain cyber-physical systems described by ordinary differential, difference, and algebraic equations. The companion Modelica Standard Library has been utilized in demanding industrial applications, including full vehicle dynamics, power systems, robotics, hardware-in-the-loop simulations and embedded control systems with nonlinear Modelica models.

The Functional Mockup Interface (FMI) is a freely available standard for the tool-independent exchange of models and for co-simulation. It is supported by more than 100 Modelica and non-Modelica tools and is the key to utilize Modelica models in non-Modelica environments.

The Modelica conference will bring together people using Modelica and/or FMI for modeling, simulation, and control applications, Modelica language designers, Modelica and/or FMI tool vendors and Modelica library developers. It provides Modelica users the opportunity to stay informed about the latest language, library, and tool developments, and to get in touch with people working on similar modeling problems. The conference is planned for about 150 participants and will cover topics such as the following:

Multi-engineering modeling and simulation with Modelica
Free and commercial Modelica libraries (mechanics, electrical, hydraulics, thermal, fluid, media, chemical, building, automotive, aircraft, ...)
Automotive applications
Thermodynamic and energy systems applications
Mechatronics and robotics applications
Other industrial applications, such as electric drives, power systems, aerospace, etc.
Real-time and hardware-in-the-loop simulation
Simulation and code generation for embedded control systems
Applications of Modelica for optimization and optimal control
Modelica modeling, simulation and design tools
Symbolic algorithms and numerical methods for model transformation and simulation
New features for future Modelica versions
Modelica in other application areas (mathematical programming, databases etc.)
Modelica for teaching and education
New features of future FMI versions
FMI in Modelica and non-Modelica applications and tools
In addition, the conference will include:

Modelica tutorials for different levels of modeling experience
Vendors’ presentations of commercial and free Modelica tools
Vendors' exhibition
Call for Papers

You are encouraged to submit a full paper of at least 4 pages with a maximum of 10 pages. The full paper in PDF format should be submitted to the Conference Management System. Please see Author's Guide for further information. The final paper has to be submitted together with a one-page abstract.

Papers and extended abstracts for presentations can be submitted via the EasyChair conference management system:

https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=modelica2018us

There, you can also read your reviews and hand in the final paper after the reviewing process has taken place. In order to submit a paper, you need to have an EasyChair account. Simply follow the provided instructions to create an account. The same account can be used for several conferences over several years. Once you have logged in, you can upload your contribution in the section: "New submissions". Simply follow the instructions.

The paper submission form includes the option to mark suitable topics for your paper. Please use this feature since it helps us to find suitable reviewers for your paper. Furthermore, there is the option to attach a .zip file to your paper. In this way, you can provide example models that correspond to your paper.

The conference proceedings will be published by the Modelica Association on its website and by Linköping University Electronic Press. Each paper will be individually referenced by a DOI.

The authors of the 10% top papers submitted to the conference will be invited to submit an extended version after the Conference, for inclusion in a special issue of an open-access, ISI-referenced journal. Please note that the extended papers will undergo a full peer-review process which is independent of the one of the Modelica Conference.

Call for Presentations

Industrial or academic Modelica Users can alternatively also submit an extended abstract for a presentation-only contribution, as it has been done for Modelica Users' meetings by NAMUG. The abstract will be peer-reviewed by experts in the field, but no paper will be published. These presentations will be selected based on the expected interest of other Modelica users. Note that slots for presentations without a paper submission will be limited, so please submit early!

Please use also the EasyChair system for submitting an extended abstract for a presentation-only industry session at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=modelica2018us.
